ArtHouse welcomes Crouch End-based, French-born artist printmaker Lydie Gallais with a new exhibition of bold screen prints in sumptuous rich hues with occasional glimpses of gold leaf.
Of her work Lydie says, ‘I hope to awaken the senses through conveying feelings and emotions and to transport the audience into my world. Growing up in France and being surrounded by Impressionists works has influenced me significantly as an artist.
As a printmaker, I love mixing colours and textures together to see how they interact and creating expressive marks to illustrate rhythm and movement. I am constantly experimenting and feel a certain freedom in doing so’
Lydie studied at Camberwell College of Art and graduated in 2003 with a Masters Degree in Printmaking. She exhibits regularly in London and abroad and in 2012 was part of a show in honour of The Olympics with the East London Printmakers of which she is a member.
