Writers' Round at The Arthouse

Programme Type: Live|Length: 135 mins| Cert:

Introducing our first Singer Songwriters night at The Arthouse, we welcome four Americana Singer Songwriters to perform a set of original songs and hear a bit about the story behind them.

Roisin McNeill:

Our very own Roisin first caught the public’s eye as lead singer for country/americana band, Newton Country, playing for a number of Under The Apple Tree sessions with Bob Harris, and played a live session at BBC Radio 2 on the Dermot O’Leary Show.

Roisin writes tender, country-inspired songs, and draws inspiration from Iris DeMent, Jason Isbell and Lori McKenna.

Jonny Morgan:

Jonny is an indie singer/songwriter with an unashamed passion for ambient, emotive music - drawing inspiration from artists such as The Paper Kites, The Lumineers and David Ramirez.

Growing up in the southwest of England, Jonny’s transatlantic sound is unmistakably influenced by his love for country/roots music. He continues to portray his vulnerability wrapped up in his Americana-inflected folk songs.

"Every now & again comes a musician who has an indefinable something that makes them special. Call it the X factor or star quality. Whatever it is, Jonny has got it!" - Whispering Bob Harris (BBC R2)

Hannah Rose Platt:

Hannah is an enchanting songstress, guitarist and storyteller described as the UK’s answer to Bobbie Gentry, tinged with the dark storytelling prowess of Nick Cave. She is currently finishing her third release, a collection of gothic folk/rock narratives produced by UK song writing royalty, Ed Harcourt.

Hannah’s previous two studio albums earned her widespread critical acclaim. She recorded her debut album 'Portraits' in Nashville, where she worked with Grammy award-winning musicians Stuart Duncan (Robert Plant, Dolly Parton) and Mark Fain (Sheryl Crow). She has also performed live on BBC One.

‘A captivating artist…destined for musical stardom’ Glamour Magazine

Sarah Vista:

Sarah effortlessly blends her passion for classic country & folk storytelling, Western movies and soundtracks into a unique sound & style all her own. Her unique, melodic songwriting talent has taken her across the pond on numerous occasions, most recently to bring home a trophy and current title of best Honky Tonk Female at the Memphis Ameripolitan Awards USA. Join Sarah for a wild ride out west!
