The ArtHouse Fringe Theatre Co is a film-to-screen theatre production company. Its aim is to create exciting theatrical work with a focus on new writing and re-imagined classics. Working with a diverse range of artists, we are committed to distributing filmed theatre productions to cinemas across London and the UK. The ease of distribution throughout the many cinemas that are on our high streets make the theatre experience accessible and affordable for both our audience and our theatre makers.
Our team will have a unique combination of expertise in theatre making, filmed performance and cinema distribution – allowing us to create and share new and untold stories and cutting edge artistic work with the widest possible audience. New theatre that would rarely be produced because of the expense and time commitment of staging plays in the limited venues available.
‘Event cinema’ has transformed the entertainment industry over the past decade. Since 2009, millions of audience members have visited their local cinema to watch live theatre, opera and concerts.
Traditionally, the approach is to film the live event after it’s been created. Our productions are designed from the outset to be filmed in a studio or empty theatre. This allows us to prioritise cinema audiences positioning cameras where best to enhance the narrative and production.
The actors and theatre director will work with the director of photography to create a hybrid filmed theatrical experience that is inexpensive and immediate.
We believe passionately in creating theatre and telling stories from under-represented groups within our communities. Women, the white working class, black and minority ethnic, the LGBT, the young the old, disabled and who ever else has struggled to be heard throughout our creative industries, Groups that make up the majority of our population but whose voices for decades have shamefully been neglected.
